Track Stars Head for Success
by Dalina Metayer and Destini Douglas
The dynamic cobra track team will strike another year with the assistance of Coach Dawn Spann and much support from our Cobra family. It all started 1994 when our Lady Cobras made a name for themselves by being Broward County Champions. Since then, they have produced many athletes with potential to run professional track and some who have taken that opportunity. The latest players to compete at the college level are Shayla Sauders and Kali Davis-White. The team has won many district championships, a few regional championships, and one state title in 2012. The team captains of these mighty Cobras are Tiandra Williams and Jamila White. Also the star players of this team include sophomores Chyna-Joi Staton , Destiny Byrd along with juniors Jamila White, Marie Pierre, and Tiandra Williams.
Colleges are not looking at us yet because currently our team is young and full of sophomers and juniors. Most athletics will be looked at this season.
In order for you to make the team the requirements are commitment, discipline, and a desire to be successful and understand that a win doesn't always mean first.
Coach Dawn Spann has been coaching for the past eight years at the high school level. This is her first year coaching for Boyd Anderson High. She is happily married with six children of her own.
